1954 Orient Airways started DC-3 flights from Karachi to Dhaka, forming a critical connection between the capitals of geographically separated East and West Pakistan.

1971 The first international flight from Independent Bangladesh took off, it was destined for Calcutta. The aircraft, a Douglas DC-3 subsequently crashed, killing the aircrew.
